Dear myhive community,
We all know that our well-being often depends on what is going on inside us. But a specialist knows better, so we asked our community’s expert, doctor Ana-Maria Stoica, who explained us, at "The Health Expert Moment", about the microbiome and digestion:
✅ It is known as “flora” or “microbiota” and is made of the communities of microbes such as bacteria, fungi, yeast, and viruses which can be found everywhere in and on plants, animals, water, soil, food or people and play a significant role for human health.
✅ Latest research shows the quantity and diversity of our microbiome has a major influence on metabolism, body weight, mood, immune system, appetite and even propensity for illness.
✅ To keep our microbiomes healthy is important to eat foods that feed the good bacteria and to avoid foods that feed bad bacteria. High-fiber vegetables, prebiotic foods (like artichokes, asparagus, eggplant, leeks, legumes, onions, garlic) and probiotics (kefir, unsweetened yogurt, kombucha, kimchi, sauerkraut) are some nutritional recommendation for a healthy and diverse microbiome.
✅ Hydration, avoiding processed food, get around 7-8 hours of sleep, exercise regularly are also vitals in maintaining a healthy microbiome.
For more details, we are waiting for you in the the myhive-offices application.
