Corona has changed the world of work.
Statistical surveys explain what employees want from their employers in 2021 and in the future.
Corona has changed the world of work. But even without the pandemic, the demands of Generation Y and Z on employers are very different than they were 10-20 years ago. What plays a role here and how employers deal with it is the topic of this article.
When it comes to deciding for or against a new employer or a change of employer, many factors play a role. However, a few years and decades ago, it was primarily a question of a salary increase or a higher reputation in the new position, but these demands have changed considerably in the meantime. Not least due to the ongoing situation of the Corona pandemic, which has shown many employees how flexible and future-proof their employer really is.
The recent study by New Work SE as part of the Corona Barometer revealed that employees do not only want a secure job and a fair salary from their employers. Rather, it is about sustainably improving working conditions and opportunities for further development. This is because 71% of those surveyed in the study said that they perceived the 2020 pandemic year as more challenging and demanding. This was all the more reason to think about one's own needs and wishes for the future work situation.
Wish for the employer - 1st place:
I would like to develop myself further (61,99%)
Wish for the employer - 2nd place
More time with family and friends (44,11%)
Wish for the employer – 3rd place
More time in the office and with my colleagues (28,46 %)
It is interesting to note that employees do attach importance to further training and time with colleagues. Even though other studies have shown that many employees would like to work regularly in a home office in the future, it shows how important a social environment of colleagues is for people.
Closely followed by the desire to spend more time with colleagues, by the way, is better home office equipment and a new job.

The study results show that in the future, an employer must offer both in order to be attractive in the long term:
Flexible working hours that make it possible to spend more time with family and friends and a working environment that allows employees to retreat to a home office (with high-quality equipment), but at the same time a local base in the form of an office where employees can meet and exchange ideas with their colleagues.
